It is noteworthy that Scientology and Mormonism are belief systems that both originated in the American West. Borrowing techniques from history painting, this diptych portrays respective founders L. Ron Hubbard and Joseph Smith as heavily historicized archetypes of the American Dream such as the pioneer-explorer, and the self-made man.
